Word of Mouth

Word of Mouth

Earned media is not bought or owned; it is gained organically, when content receives recognition and a following through communication channels such as social media and word of mouth.

Publicity gained through editorial influence may include mass media outlets, such as newspaper, television, radio, and the Internet. Viral social media posts, news stories, letters to the editor, editorials, and polls on television and the Internet are forms of earned media.

Our anti-money campaign can only succeed by generating significant "earned media." In a political culture dominated by huge amounts of money and entire corporate networks blasting out political agendas, one candidate in a small corner of the world must work very hard to "earn" free publicity.
