Change Happens

Reactionaries resist change. They cling to the "good old days" and fear that any change will be bad. Their knee-jerk reaction is to reject the new science, ideas, or technology as unproven or dangerous.

Liberals love change. They believe any change has got to be an improvement over the sad state of affairs that exists in the world today. They jump before testing the new science, ideas, or technology to see if it can help without being harmful.

Progressives anticipate change. They believe change is inevitable and choose to influence the the direction tested science, ideas, or technology takes them. They are optimistically cautious.

A Progressive uses values, morals, reason, wisdom, and ideals to shape change for making a better world. When science and technology offer new insights and new possibilities, the progressive mind asks how we can utilize this new information to improve the human condition.
